Summer Palace, Beijing

This is the day when we are splitting – Mike is returning back to New York on business while three of us will stay a few more days in Beijing.

We headed out to visit the Summer Palace, which is in the northern part of Beijing located on a lake and surrounded by trees.  The climate there is more pleasant, less hot and humid than in the city.  The elegant pavilions and walkways and fragrant trees make it a nice destination.  Along the lake is a long covered walkway with beautiful paintings on the ceiling where the emperor could stroll while protected from the elements.
