We visited the French quarter today, and spent the day strolling around. The city was divided into concessions – parts of town assigned to be governed by different countries – French concession and the international one collectively administrated by Britain, US, Italy, Belgium, Russia, and even Austria.
The French Concession is one of the most elegant parts of the city with its old residential buildings and art deco hotels, and the streets are lined with fashion boutiques and filled with shoppers. We had a delicious Shanghainese lunch at Spicy joint with smoked duck and spicy beef.
